Lost in translation

Who would have thought that translating my own book into my own language, would be such a difficult task.

It should be the easiest thing to do since I'm totally fluent in Spanish, but it is not.

The problem is that I've surrounded myself mostly with English speaking people and hardly ever speak my own language.

Sure, my daughter is bilingual as well, but does she talks to me in Spanish? no! she won't. Unless we are in talking to people who doesn't speak English. So it's a 'have to' matter only.

Sometimes I get frustrated and others, I just simply laugh at the sight of the both of us speaking to each other in two languages at the same time. I say something to her in Spanish and she'll answer in English. We are just weird.

Even though I'm really glad I can do it, my goodness gracious! it is taking me longer to translate it than it took me to actually write it in English.

The thing is  that is not so easy to find the right words to use. I know what I want to say, but to translate a phrase or an expression from one language to another, is totally different. There are expressions in a languages that made no sense when translated to another.

Of course if I could focus on doing more typing and less other things it would go a whole lot faster. But I'm getting there. 21 more chapters and I'll be done!

Easier said than done indeed.

Just in case someone would like a taste of it here is the link to TIED UP HEART English version.

Quotes

I love quotes.

I sometimes like to post quotes from books, other people's profiles, and I even like to 'craft' my own. Daring I know! It's becoming a habit.

I do it because I might like the sentiment or I might find it encouraging or even funny; but not necessarily because they reflect my state of mind at that moment.

I love to 'see' how people react. I like to call people's attention and hopefully provoke a comment; my ultimate goal. :)

The power hidden in some of those quotes can be mind blowing. It can actually change someones life. It's fascinating.

From the classics everybody knows, to some not so and new ones.

"Treat others the way you want to be treated." Etc...

Also, there are comments that I've heard or partaken on, and sometimes phrases come up sounding quite appealing. From lets say...

"So Am I to assume you are a good swimmer?" I asked and the answer was, "I surf, ma'dear." Wow!

"Don't you like to dream?" He asked and I responded, "Of course I do! At least I'd know how good it would feel."

"I'm a guy, therefore a filthy animal." The response,  "Behind doors we all are."

Not giving anymore details of what was being discussed. Sorry.

"Please be gentle on  me, I bruise easily." The continuation was, "Don't worry, I shot to kill. You won't have time to see the bruise."

"Was I not supposed to laugh? *biting my fingernails now* The answer to that, "Bite my lip instead."

"A tough guy can be brought down to his knees by a small woman. Your opinion?" I asked and he said, "Sure! The right moves!"

Imagine that!

Okay that sounded more like flirting, but to me it sounds very interesting and so appealing. It sounds so romantic, it deserves to be quoted.

So my friends, if you ever come across my writing and read something, lets say... strange, please don't question my sanity.

I'm not crazy! Who knows, I might quote you someday, just like I did above.  (If they read, they would know.)

Now I'll be waiting on a reply of some sort. If I get that it'll be awesome!

I hope you read this, find something useful and share it. Until next time, I'll see you around.

In the meantime, let's read.

Where are you?

Where are you?...

I can touch your shadow when you are not here.
I can feel your soul blowing in the wind.
Tell me my love, why you disappear?
Don't you know I need you here?

Let me see where you are,
let me feel your heart.
I need your hand to hold me,
I need you to love me.

Funny thing is,
that others come around,
but you're no where to be found.
Why do you hide from me?
when all I want is to feel your breathe.

I should myself go and hide,
and see if you care enough.
Would you look for me if I'm lost?
Can I have your trust?

I'm the ghost of your story
and you don't even know it.
loneliness appears in the mist of my eyes
as the tears are falling.

Where are you?....

Memories

Memories are made out of time,
time is made out of need,
what I need is made out of you,
but you aren't here.

Where did time take you?
Why can't I find you?
Why are you hiding?
I miss you.

Who you used to be,
is who I want to see.
The half I'm missing,
the soul I fell in love with.

What happened to our history?
What happened to you and me?
What will happen when you're gone?
I guess now I know.

If we are no longer,
I want to be stronger.
If you will be gone...
well... you are.

When I open my eyes,
a memory is all I see.
The story we used to be,
the memory of you and me.

Memories...

A birthday wish to my love.

My daughter... my love.
Today is a memorable day for me, my love just turned 16.

Watch out fellow drivers, she'll be out roaming the streets.

If you see her coming get out of the way, cause she's rushing home to eat some cake.

Time flies that we know, but I hope her car rides slow.

Happy birthday my dear, you've conquered my fears, all I wish now is to have you more years.

Hope you dreams come true some day, so dream big I know you can.

Happiness on your face is all I want to see, because that will make today a memorable day for me.

Happy birthday Jacqueline... my love.

Something to see.

As I sit out there and look at the sky, the sun goes down and it begins to put on that little black dress.

It is beautiful! Actually the most beautiful there is. It fits her perfectly, caressing every single one of her curves.

The train is long and wavy and full of sparkle. I wish you could see it... I wish you could see it.

When I look at her, she swirls around and the sparkles twinkle for all to see. So look up and enjoy the beauty... it is free!

I sit out there taking in the sight. Right by the fire pit enjoying its warmth.

This is the kind of life no big lit city could compare to, I wish you could see it... I wish you could see it.

The bright light of the moon doesn't dwarf the beauty of the stars, it actually makes them stand out.

If you ever have the chance to experience such sight, take it in. It will be imprinted in your memory forever.

I would love to take your hand and lead you to my side... right where you belong.

I would love to share it all with you; but you don't need to be close by, just step outside, step out there, you won't regret it.

I wish you could see it... go see it.

Just a poem...

Is easy to see, that you're lost in me.
But tell me my love, will we ever be?
Today and tomorrow, perhaps you'll see...
or the touch my skin will never feel.

Are we destined to cross our paths?
And if so... will you dare to look my way?
Is there's anyway you could become,
part of my every day?

Maybe the answer is no.
Even though I wish it was yes.
And if only I could make you see,
well...

So go on with your life.
And I'll go on with mine.
Just know that at times
my eyes will cry.

It's so hard to understand
why you don't feel the same,
I could lay my life for you
but... I'm just going to leave it right there...

Should you beware of your words?

Do you ever worry about what you say?

Have you ever stop to think for a second how your words might affect other people?

When a song writer gets mad at someone, he or she goes on and writes a song about what that person did or didn't do to them. We've heard them, even memorized them. (*hangs her head...guilty*)

But what about when a writer gets mad?

Do you worry about making a writer mad?

No? Well, perhaps you should. What if said writer goes on ranting about you?

Just imagine. If a songwriter writes a song, a writer will write a whole book about whatever you have done! That's thousands of words!!! and many of them could be not so nice. And you 'provably' deserve them.

However, if it's the other way around and the writer is happy with you, he or she could make you the hero of the story. How cool would that be?!

Just imagine!!

You being the reason and or the inspiration of the next big hit! The next big thing! Now that would be awesome! Everybody would be reading about you, everybody would want to be you, or be with you. You would be famous!

Regardless. Be mindful of what you say... just in case you come across a mean writer. :)

And no, I'm not one of them. I try to be nice... most of the time. I've never written anything bad about anyone and hope to never do it.

This is just a random thought. I hope you read this, get something good out of it and share it.

Until next time, I'll see you around.
